Subliminal

Last night, I dreamed I was eating very small bananas. They were about 4 inches long but tasted like regular bananas. I didn't particularly want them, either.

I think even my dreams want a vacation.

Anyone going any place interesting? Can I live vicariously through you?

I am awaiting approval for a medical conference in the exotic locale of Northern Michigan in mid June. I seriously think there is something wrong with me. I could have chosen a conference in New Orleans. Or Montreal. Or San Francisco. Or Hawaii. What is with that?

Oh, yeah, I remember, I have 2 kids and my beloved husband hates to fly. So Michigan it is and I will cash in the "let's get on a plane and fly" chips next summer. By then I will have forgotten what happened our last flight, from Minneapolis to Portland, when Sara, aged 7 months, would only stop sobbing if I sang a song I made up called "Where is Sara?" over and over in her ear. For 4 solid hours. What made it especially maddening was that the airlines had messed up our reservations and had to split us up: Charles and Colin in one part of the plane and Sara and I in another part. I kept meaning to see if Charles managed to slip someone a $20 to arrange that, being the forsightful person he is, but never got around to it. Plus, he is Canadian and therefore unable to be mean or devious. It's a mountie-thing.

Oh, yeah, Michigan sounds like just the ticket.

Pass the Off.

I remember a flight from Champaign, IL, to Chicago where the 4 of us sat in 3 separate locations on a DC-9. You were so brave at having your own seat with strangers. You sat perfectly still and hardly breathed.

I wondered in via Hippogriffs bcs I loved your Jane Austen remark. She does doesn't it. Maybe you didn't mean it this way but this post was rather funny, in a bleak sort of way. I'll come back to read more.

Dad- I still remember that flight. I think I was about 7? The nice man next to me ordered me a 7-up and I think I squeaked out a "Thank-you". Other than that, I don't think I drew breath.

Lioness- Wow, I am honored. I have read your blog over the months and enjoy it. If a comment I leave can be taken tongue-in-cheek or (better) with actual humor, I meant it, or at least I will claim I did. One of my favorite Austen lines: "Why do we exist but to provide sport for our neighbors and to laugh at them in our turn." Or something like that. And I certainly have provided my share of sport for others. Thanks for stopping by.

Michigan is a nice state (for the Midwest)--especially the Upper Peninsula (UP).

When I lived in Chicago, I was always trying to find wilderness in the surrounding states. I think Michigan had the most and the best. Of course, you're going to be at a conference, so it isn't really a vacation. Might as well save the more exotic locales for when you can take a real vacation.

The thing about this conference is that it is just in the mornings. 4 hours of lecture is as much as I can take in a day and even that is pushing it. That leaves us the afternoons and evenings. Have yet to get to the UP but hear it is lovely.

"Honoured", she says, after telling me yes, she's been reading, but couldn't be bothered to comment, that doesn't leave ME feeling like much of a sport does it. My stats report keeps me humble as well, most of my visitors stay 0 secs. Thanks for the flower on the guest map [even if you DIDN'T comment][yes], I love seeing them. They unreasonably and disproportionately cheer me up.

(And good for you that you manage to enjoy my blog these days, that's some feat.)

Ok, read your damn comments. You win. I shall lurk no longer. Now you will truly be sorry. Just ask Rozanne.

Never, never shall I be sorry!

(Er, are you stalking her? Sounds exciting, if a bit misguided. Let me know!)
